Where once a psychic channeledthe spirits at 54 Clinton Street (i.e. Mystic Garden), a new streetwear outpost has opened shop.  One with an effective gimmick to get heads through the door.  Old-school arcade games – the perfect recipe for retro.

The new concept, dubbed Community 54, soft-opened at 54 Clinton Street on Friday.  The space had been a vacant dustbin for nigh on a year already.  Drawn in by a youthful desire to play some video games, we stepped inside to have a looksy and assess the situation.  Patrons are at once greeted with a front room packed with 80s-era cabinets – Asteroids, Ms. Pac Man, a claw machine, and Cruisin’ World among others. We are told that all arcade games are currently on lease, and will be periodically swapped for different titles. And the rug really ties the room together, with that oh-so-cheesy game-room feel.
